ABOUT ME

My Story
Childhood
I have always been interested in the arts. When I was a kid I was always drawing portraits for my teachers, and taking "commissions" from my friends at recess. I was playing piano, guitar, violin, and singing. I definitely was the "art kid" for as long as I can remember.

I slowed down in middle school to drawing in my sketch books and in the margins of my notes. my sophomore year I formed an extreme bond with my high school art teacher, Mr. Dudley. We would drink coffee in the mornings before class, sometimes having breakfast in his class room. He put in a recommendation for me to apply for the Alabama School of Fine Arts. Throughout the school year, I was sent to a separate room during his class period to work on my portfolio.
I finished highschool at ASFA.
Mr. Dudley
Larry Bruce Bishop
At 15, Mr. Dudley told me to send an email to this painter he knew, Larry Bishop.
This would be the turning point.

Larry took me in with hesitation. The first days in his studio were mostly filled with stories from his Navy past and his portraiture "tips and tricks". He set his price at $60/hour to train under him. My first day painting, we set up my eisle in front of my dad; Larry sat behind me as I painted. This would be my first oil portrait.
This portrait can be found under male portraits, labeled as Chad.
APPRENTICE TO PEER
I will always remember the day when my role as Larry's apprentice got promoted. This was the day that I no longer had to pay to be in his studio. The day he told me we were no longer mentor and mentee, we were equals, just friends painting together. This day he held out his finger and pressed it against mine:
"This Touch has been passed down from generations of artists, you have now touched the finger of Michelangelo".
